A LETTER FROM MATTHEW AND ADRIENNE RAPTIS

Our love for books began early. As children, we were both captivated by reading—the way a great book can transport you, teach you, and stay with you for life. Matthew’s passion took shape as a young collector, drawn to the thrill of discovery and the stories that first editions and historic documents carry within them. Adrienne’s devotion started in a different but equally telling way: she adored books so much that she would pretend to set up a bookstore, carefully arranging volumes and “selling” them to anyone willing to browse her small imaginary shop. Those early joys never left us; they became the foundation of a life’s work.

Over time, our shared devotion grew into a serious commitment to collecting and preserving rare and important works. It was out of a desire to safeguard these extraordinary pieces of history and culture that our business of buying and selling rare books naturally evolved more than twenty years ago.

Thanks to the many remarkable clients and fellow collectors who share our affection for the printed word, we’ve had the privilege of building one of the world’s premier collections of signed and inscribed first editions and documents across all fields, with particular attention to Literature, Americana, Science, Economics, and Intellectual History.

When we moved our operations to Palm Beach, Florida, we opened an exquisitely appointed gallery of fine rare books and manuscripts on historic Worth Avenue. Hosting clients there—both new friends and familiar faces—has been one of the great pleasures of our work. The overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from returning and first-time collectors alike is deeply meaningful to us, and we take it as a testament to the quality of our offerings, our discerning taste, and our commitment to expert, professional service.
