First edition of Philip Jones Griffith’s first book. Quarto, original illustrated wrappers as issued. Boldly signed by Noam Chomsky, who in a later edition contributed an introduction to this volume. In near fine condition. Rare.
Griffiths started work as a full-time freelance photographer in 1961 for the Observer, travelling to Algeria in 1962. He arrived in Vietnam in 1966, working for the Magnum agency, the photos from which Griffith's would publish Vietnam, Inc. (Agence, 2008). "Few photo books can claim the social and historic importance of Vietnan Inc." (Bookforum). It is "[t]he greatest description of war since Goya" (Henri Cartier-Bresson).
