First edition of this wonderfully illustrated work by the famed photographer. Quarto, original cloth, illustrated throughout. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, “a Monsieur et Madame Henri Dumur avec mon souvenir le meilleur Henri Cartier-Bresson.” Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Rare and desirable signed and inscribed.
Henri Cartier-Bresson was a photographer considered a master of candid photography, and an early user of 35 mm film. He pioneered the genre of street photography, and viewed photography as capturing a decisive moment. Cartier-Bresson was one of the founding members of Magnum Photos in 1947.
