The Opium Murders revolves around Scotland Yard's attempt to solve the mystery of a dope ring whose members are being killed off one-by-one in increasingly bizarre ways. Like many similar books of the era dealing with taboo topics, the drug ring spends surprisingly little time dealing or using drugs.
