The Dream is a visionary narrative poem by John Masefield, one of the most popular and prolific English poets of the twentieth century. Best known for sea poems such as Sea Fever and Cargoes, Masefield served as Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom from 1930 until his death in 1967, one of the longest tenures in the history of the office. First published in 1922, The Dream continues the storytelling vein that made his long poems so widely admired, and this edition is illustrated by his daughter Judith Masefield, who provided artwork for several of her father's books.
