“Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races": First Edition of The Cobra Story; Inscribed by Him
First edition of this classic work by the legendary driver. Octavo, original cloth, illustrated. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author opposite the title page, "To Ed Father of Ed Your racing friend Carroll Shelby 12/1/65." Very good in a very good dust jacket. Jacket design by Paul Bacon. Rare in the original dust jacket and signed.
While still a relatively unknown driver Shelby envisioned what he figured would be an exciting and marketable automobile: a sports car in the light, responsive European tradition, but with a big American V8 up front. In 1962 his dream became a reality, the hottest thing on wheels.
