Uniformly and Finely Bound Collection of The Annual Register
Uniformly bound collection of The Annual Register, a long-established reference work, written and published each year beginning in 1758 under the editorship of Edmund Burke. Octavo, 11 out of 43 original volumes, uniformly bound in full polished calf with gilt titles and elaborate floral tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, floral gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, all edges stained yellow, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, containing mixed first, early, and new editions. In very good condition, bookplates to the front pastedowns.
The Annual Register, first published in 1758, is a long-standing historical periodical that offers a systematic yearly account of political, military, diplomatic, and cultural developments in Britain and across the world. Designed as both a record and an interpretive survey, it traditionally includes summaries of parliamentary proceedings, state documents, international affairs, and notable events in literature and science. Associated in its early years with Edmund Burke, the publication established a model for annual historical reporting that combined documentation with analytical commentary. Over time, The Annual Register has remained a valuable reference source for scholars seeking contemporaneous perspectives on major global events.
