It comes from bitter grounds, but was strained through the filter of democracy." Once again, Shalom dear - ! 3.22.03." In near fine condition.
Jean-Bertrand Aristide (1953–2021) was a Haitian priest, politician, and the first democratically elected president of Haiti. A former Catholic priest with a strong focus on social justice, Aristide rose to prominence in the 1980s as a leader advocating for the rights of the poor and marginalized. His presidency, first from 1991 to 1996 and then again from 2001 to 2004, was marked by his efforts to implement progressive reforms, including education and healthcare improvements, and his focus on alleviating poverty. Aristide’s leadership, however, was also controversial, with his populist policies and rhetoric sparking opposition from both local elites and foreign governments. In 2004, he was ousted in a coup and went into exile, but he remained a significant figure in Haitian politics. Aristide’s writings, such as Shalom 2004, reflect his enduring commitment to social justice and the empowerment of Haiti’s impoverished majority.
