Autograph letter signed by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The letter reads, “Concord (Concord has been crossed out and replaced with Parker House, Boston) Dec 24 1862 Dear Sir, I shall take lodgings at the Delavan House on Friday p.m. Respectfully R.W. Emerson, Mr. Burlingame. P.S. I mean to take the train which leaves Boston at 8:30 a.m.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Emerson. The entire piece measures 17 inches by 16 inches.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society, and he disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States.
