Henry Green's Pack My Bag
First edition, second printing of this self-portrait. Octavo, original publisher's cloth. Very good in a very good dust jacket and a couple of small losses to the crown of the spine and front panel of the dust jacket, inscription to the front free endpaper.
Henry Green (1905–1973) was the pen name of the English novelist Henry Vincent Yorke, a central figure in twentieth-century British modernism known for his formal experimentation and highly distinctive prose style. Across novels such as 'Living', 'Party Going', and 'Loving', Green rejected conventional plot in favor of dialogue-driven narrative, social observation, and linguistic precision, often depicting class relations and everyday life with ironic restraint. 'Pack My Bag' by Henry Green is an autobiographical book composed of reflective sketches rather than a conventional life narrative. Drawing on memories of childhood, schooling, family life, and early adulthood, Green selects moments and impressions that he felt shaped his character and literary sensibility.
