Ginette Spanier was a French Jew who fled Paris at the start of World War II. Returning to France after the war, she eventually became the director of the House of Balmain, a famous Parisian fashion-house. Her status in luxury fashion gave her numerous connections in high society. One of these friendships was with Vivian Leigh, the famous English actress.
