First edition, first printing of the Rolling Stone photographer's homage to the music and musicians of the Sixties. Octavo, original cloth, patterned endpapers, illustrated with hand-colored photographs by Ann Rhoney. One of one thousand numbered copies, this is copy number 97. Presentation copy, inscribed on the titles page, "To Glenn - ...One helluva soup kitchen... In admiration, Baron Wolman." The recipient, Glenn Goldman founded Book Soup in 1975, an independently owned bookstore on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood specializing in art, music, film, photography, design and fiction. Rolling Stone's first chief photographer, Baron Wolman, was onstage with Jimi Hendrix, backstage with the Rolling Stones, in front of the stage with Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Grace Slick and the Grateful dead performed for the camera in his Haight-Ashbury studio. Classic Rock & Other Rollers is Wolman's photo scrapbook of memories, mostly musical - an affectionate look at our icons of the Sixties.
