Alain Prost (b. 1955) is a French racing driver and four-time Formula One World Champion (1985, 1986, 1989, 1993), widely regarded as one of the most accomplished competitors in the sport’s history. Over a career spanning 1980 to 1993, Prost secured 51 Grand Prix victories, a record at the time of his retirement, along with 33 pole positions and 106 podium finishes. Known for his analytical approach and tactical race management—earning him the nickname “The Professor”—Prost was central to the intense McLaren rivalry with Ayrton Senna and contributed to championship successes with McLaren and Williams. His statistical achievements and methodical driving style helped define the competitive landscape of Formula One during the 1980s and early 1990s.
