First Edition of Career and Family; Signed by Nobel Laureate Claudia Goldin
First edition of the Nobel Prize-winning economist's work on closing the gender wage gap. Octavo, original wrappers. Boldly signed by Claudia Goldin on the title page. In fine condition. Cover design by Lauren Michelle Smith.
Claudia Goldin is an economic historian and labor economist, currently the Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University, whose pioneering research has deeply illuminated the dynamics of women’s labor force participation, the gender wage gap, and the interaction of education, marriage, and “greedy” jobs over the long sweep of U.S. history. In 2023 she was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences “for having advanced our understanding of women’s labor market outcomes,” making her the third woman ever to win the prize and the first woman to win it solo. 'Career and Family: Women’s Century-Long Journey Toward Equity' traces the evolving balance between women’s professional aspirations and family life in the United States over the past 120 years, focusing especially on college-educated women.
