First edition of Analog: Science Fiction and Fact magazine containing the first appearance of the second part of Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, later published as a novel. Octavo, issue February 1976, original pictorial wrappers, with black and white illustrations. Boldly signed by Frank Herbert above his name on page 63 of his contribution. In near fine condition with light creasing and soiling.

Frank Herbert (1920–1986) was an American science fiction author best known for the Dune series, which redefined the genre through its integration of ecology, politics, religion, and evolutionary theory. Dune was awarded the first Nebula award for best science fiction novel, shared the Hugo award, and "became one of the most famous of all science fiction novels" (The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction). Chilred of Dune initially sold over 75,000 copies, and it became the first hardcover best-seller ever in the science fiction field. It was critically well-received for its gripping plot, action, and atmosphere, and was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1977. Dune Messiah (1969) and Children of Dune were collectively adapted by the Sci-Fi Channel in 2003 into a miniseries entitled Frank Herbert's Children of Dune.
