Across the Space Frontier (1952) is a forward-looking interdisciplinary study that examines the scientific, technical, and legal foundations of human spaceflight at the dawn of the space age. Combining expertise in rocketry, astrophysics, orbital mechanics, atmospheric science, and international law, the volume outlines practical proposals for artificial satellites, space stations, lunar travel, and interplanetary exploration, while also addressing propulsion systems, life-support challenges, and the physics of leaving Earth’s gravity. In addition to engineering considerations, the contributors explore the geopolitical and legal implications of space activity, anticipating questions of sovereignty, militarization, and international cooperation.
