The Dodd, Mead and Company trade edition of Joseph Jefferson's play adapted to text. Octavo, original green cloth over boards with gilt-stamped lettering and illustration of the Catskill Mountains, top edge gilt, frontispiece, title page vignette, with black and white illustrations throughout. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Ms Sadie of the Theatrical...'May you all live long and prosper' J Jefferson." Near fine in a very good dust jacket. With Mrs. Cora Hamilton Bell. Illustrated by Richard Creifelds. Accompanied by letters of provenance laid in. Housed in a custom clamshell box.

In near fine condition. Original green cloth bound in at rear.
