First edition of this title in Champney's beloved Witch Winnie series. Octavo, original cloth, with illustrations by J. Wells Champney. Warmly inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "With dear love from Elizabeth Champney June 12th '95." In good condition.
Throughout the course of her career American author Elizabeth Williams Champney published fifteen novels, stories for juveniles, and historical works, primarily directed towards young women. Her "Witch Winnie" series eventually contained nine books, the last of which, Witch Winnie in Spain, was published in 1898.
