American poet Janet Hamill was a strong proponent of the spoken word and read widely in New York City and at museums and festivals throughout the United States and Europe. She published this, her first book, in 1975 under the pseudonym "Juan Hamill" and was later nominated for a Pushcart Prize and William Carlos Williams Award by the Poetry Society of America.
