First edition of Christie’s classic Poirot murder mystery. Octavo, original cloth. Near fine in a very good price-clipped dust jacket. Jacket design by Kenneth Farnhill. From the collection of Dr. John Talbot Gernon.
It is the 'third girl', Norma Restarick, who is the subject of the complex mystery that here engages Hercule Poirot. What is wrong with Norma? She walks in on Poirot at a breakfast table and announces that she 'may have committed a murder' and then walks out again. Has there been a murder? It would seem not. But Poirot manages to piece the clues together and the random and intriguing events that occur eventually become logical and their design understood.
