British author Evelyn Bridgett Patricia Ward-Thomas, better known by her pen name Evelyn Anthony, had a prolific writing career. Her works have been translated nearly 20 languages and in 1974, her 1971 novel Tamarind Seed was adapted into the film of the same name starring Julie Andrews and Omar Sharif as lovers involved in Cold War intrigue.
