First edition of Sherard's appreciation of Wilde. Octavo, original publisher's cloth, illustrated with 26 portraits and facsimile letters, tissued guarded engraved photographic frontispiece portrait of Wilde by Ellis and Wallery. In very good condition. Ownership name.
Sherard's volminous biography of Wilde includes a full reprint of the famous revolutionary article "Jacta Alea Est," which was written by Wilde's mother, Jane Francesca Elgeee, prior to his birth and an additional chapter contributed by one of the prison-wardens who held Wilde in Gaol.
