Finely bound early printing of one of Trollope's four novels about Ireland. Small octavo, bound in three quarters morocco with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt topstain, marbled endpapers, frontispiece. Armorial bookplate. In very good condition.
Best known for his Chronicles of Barsetshire, Victorian era English novelist Anthony Trollope was a prolific writer, publishing dozens of novels addressing current political, social, and gender issues. Writers such as William Thackeray, George Eliot and Wilkie Collins admired and befriended Trollope, praising his understanding of the quotidian world of institutions, official life, and daily business.
