Pomeroy's The Grand Prix Car: 1906-1939 is a book written in three distinct sections. The first of these gives a summarized history of Gran Prix racing in 1906-39; the second paints a broad picture of engineering development in this period by describing seventeen typical Gran Prix cars, with specification lists which make it possible to compare their common characteristics; the third section provides a continuous historical narrative of technical change and relates engineering factors to road performance.
