The Ferrari in the Bedroom gathers the wry, digressive humor of Jean Shepherd, the radio raconteur, writer, and humorist whose nostalgic tales of growing up in Indiana became American classics. Drawn in part from his columns for Car and Driver and National Lampoon, the collection ranges over the absurdities of modern American life with the same shaggy-dog wit that made his late-night radio monologues legendary. Shepherd is best remembered for his book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash and for the beloved 1983 film A Christmas Story, which he wrote and narrated from his stories of the boy Ralphie and his quest for a Red Ryder BB gun. Excelsior was his lifelong catchphrase and sign-off.
