Camus' final work of fiction, The Fall consists of a series of dramatic monologues by Parisian lawyer Jean-Baptiste Clamence as he reflects upon his past life in a shady bar in Amsterdam. Exploring themes of innocence, morality, and judgement, Jean-Paul Sartre described the novel as "perhaps the most beautiful and the least understood" of Camus' books.
