Dr. Joseph Collins (1866–1950) was an American neurologist, author, and medical educator known for his contributions to the study of nervous and mental disorders in the early twentieth century. A graduate of New York University, Collins served as a professor of neurology and was actively involved in clinical practice and medical writing, producing works that addressed both specialized neurological topics and broader issues of health and psychology. The Doctor Looks at Love and Life (1926) is a collection of essays in which the author examines human relationships, emotional life, and social behavior from a medical and psychological perspective. Drawing on his experience as a neurologist, Collins discusses topics such as love, marriage, sexuality, and personal conduct, seeking to interpret them through the lens of modern scientific understanding rather than moral convention alone.
