First appearance of Kipling’s celebrated poem. Folio, the poem was first published the Daily Telegraph, April 19, 1917 and simultaneously in the USA in the New York Times. In good condition. Bookplate. Housed in a custom folding chemise case.
Written in April 1917, this is Kipling's celebration of America’s entry into World War I, and his assertion of her moral, political and military responsibility as a great power, in alliance with Britain. First published in the Daily Telegraph, April 19, 1917 and simultaneously in the USA in the New York Times with six four-line verses; the final two verses added in The Years Between, 1919.
