First edition of Munro Leaf’s early children’s tale. Octavo, original boards, illustrated by the author. In good condition with some preliminary leaves removed, ownership signature and bookseller’s stickers to the front free endpaper and pastedown, rebacked.

American author of children's literature Munro Leaf wrote and illustrated nearly 40 books over this course of his 40-year career. He is best known for The Story of Ferdinand (1936), a children's classic which he wrote on a yellow legal-length pad in less than an hour and stirred an international controversy.
