First edition of this humorous collection of recollections by Confederate army surgeon Ferdinand Eugene Daniel. Octavo, bound in full cloth with gilt titles to the spine, illustrated. In near fine condition.
Physician and medical journalist Ferdinand Eugene Daniel participated as a surgeon in the battles of Perryville and Mumfordsville and was in charge of hospitals at Chattanooga, Tennessee; Marietta, Kingston, and Covington, Georgia; and Lauderdale, Mississippi during the American Civil War. Here, he recalls fond memories of his experiences as a "Rebel Surgeon".
