First edition, first issue with signpost with “100£ reward.” Octavo, bound in full morocco with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, triple gilt ruling to the panels, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, top edge gilt. With Forty engraved plates including the frontispiece and engraved title by Hablôt K. Browne. In near fine condition. Desirable bound in full morocco.
The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit is considered the last of Dickens picaresque novels. It was originally serialised in 1843 and 1844. Dickens thought it to be his best work. "Dickens' funniest novel" (William Boyd).
