No One Write to the Colonel was originally published in 1961. The novel is considered by some to be within the realm of magic realism, and it some sense this is true. It contains with its plot magical events. Nonetheless, the novel deviates from the boundaries of this informal genre. The main characters are unnamed, and this portrays a sense of insignificance. Political and financial instability are key, and they corruption of local and national officials build onto the natural angst of the novel.
