First edition of the photographer’s sequel to Naked City. Text by Mel Harris. Quarto, original quarter yellow cloth. Light wear, else near fine in a good dust jacket. Inscribed by Weegee.
Naked Hollywood documents the lurid undersides of stardom and commerce in mid-century Los Angeles. It follows Weegee's relocation from New York City, abandoning crime scenes, to turn his camera on Hollywood starlets and paparazzi. "Now I could really photograph the subjects I liked," he said, "I was free." His use of distortion through trick lenses and multiple exposures is part of the Weegee-trademark, but it is also an artful glimpse into Weegee's perception of the underlying themes of Hollywood profiling.
