Signed by Leland Stanford as President of the Company. Float-mounted and framed with a portrait of Stanford and an informational placard. In near fine condition with very light creasing and signatures obscured on the reverse. The piece measures 17.3 inches by 30 inches.
Leland Stanford was an industrialist and United States Senator whose success in business gave him tremendous power in the West and left a massive footprint in California's history. Stanford had began his career mining and engaging in support services for the mining industry before turning to the railroad industry and leaving his impact on the Central Pacific Railroad and Southern Pacific railroads. This document is from an early investment in a mining concern not far from present day Mammoth Lakes. Today the town of Bodie is a "ghost town" preserved as part of the California State Parks system.
