This book is a tribute to Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, and to his opposite number and summit partner Mikhail Gorbachev, general secretary of CPSU Central Committee. The two statesmen's summit meetings were moments in world history the harmonies and dissonances of which joined to form a stupendous symphony the world listened to with bated breath. It was a symphony in four movements, followed by the transition in New York that heralded the preliminary finale off Malta with the new tandem of George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev.
