Signed limited edition of Isaac Bashevis Singer's Gimpel the Fool and other stories
Signed limited first edition of this collection of short stories by the Nobel Prize-winning author. Octavo, bound in full leather, gilt titles and tooling to the spine, gilt tooling to the front and rear panels, all edges gilt. Signed by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Illustrated by Phero Thomas.
This story tells the story of Gimpel, a simple bread maker who is the butt of many of his town's jokes. It also gives its name to the collection first published in 1957. David Roskies has put forward the view that the story constitutes a modernist revision of a story by Nachman of Bratslav.
