First edition of Edith Caroline Rivett’s Dangerous Domicile, written under the pseudonym E. C. R. Lorac. Octavo, original cloth. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket.
British crime writer Edith Caroline Rivett published dozens of crime novels under two pseudonyms: E. C. R. Lorac and Carol Carnac between 1931 and 1959. The majority of the Lorac novels feature Chief Inspector Robert Macdonald, a "London Scot" and an avowed bachelor with a love for walking in the English countryside. Dangerous Domicile involves a complex plot peopled with the sinister and formidable landlady Madame Chevreuse and her four young tenants.
