Octavo, original wrappers with a photograph of Murphy at bat on the front panel, illustrated with advertisements and color photographs. Boldly signed by Dale Murphy in blue felt tip on the front panel. The issue's cover story, America's Team II, celebrates Murphy and the Atlanta Braves, with an accompanying article by Steve Wulf titled Not Home Free Yet. In very good condition.
Dale Murphy was one of the finest and most admired baseball players of the 1980s, the center fielder and slugger who became the face of the Atlanta Braves. Beloved for his sportsmanship and clean-cut character as much as for his power at the plate, Murphy won back-to-back National League Most Valuable Player awards in 1982 and 1983, earned seven All-Star selections and five Gold Gloves, and twice led the National League in home runs and runs batted in. This issue appeared in August 1982, during the MVP season that established him as a national star and the Braves as America's Team II.
