Original 'Earthrise' photograph, the iconic image captured by Bill Anders during the Apollo 8 mission, signed by nine Apollo astronauts in silver ink including Walt Cunningham (Apollo 7), James Lovell (Apollo 8), Buzz Aldrin (Apollo 11), Alan Bean (Apollo 12), Fred Haise (Apollo 13), Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14), Dave Scott (Apollo 15), Al Worden (Apollo 15), and Charlie Duke (Apollo 16). In fine condition. Double matted and framed the entire piece measures 17 inches by 15.5 inches. An exceptional collection of autographs.
Taken by American astronaut William Anders from lunar orbit on December 24th 1968 during the Apollo 8 mission, 'Earthrise' has become synonymous with the American space program and essentially marked the beginning of the environmental program. In Life's 100 Photographs that Changed the World, wilderness photographer Galen Rowell called Earthrise "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken". Fifty years to the day after taking the photo, William Anders observed, "We set out to explore the moon and instead discovered the Earth."
