Exceptional Original Watercolor of Harry Potter by Thomas Taylor, the illustrator who first brought Harry Potter to the World
TAYLOR, Thomas [J.K. Rowling].
Harry Potter, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters Original Watercolor.
Original watercolor of Harry Potter by Thomas Taylor. In 1997, at just 23 years old, Thomas Taylor created the first-ever cover illustration for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, introducing readers to the magical world that would soon become a global phenomenon. A decade later, the artist returned to create this whimsical and brightly colored image of Harry-wide-eyed, standing in front of the Hogwarts Express on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters at King's Cross Station-capturing the playful wonder and excitement at the heart of the story. This was most likely created by the artist for a special edition print of the book which included a print of a similar image by the artist. Taylor's illustration not only launched the visual identity of the series but also embodied the sense of discovery and charm that drew millions of readers into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Signed by Thomas Taylor. Triple matted and framed. In fine condition. The entire piece measures 14.5 inches by 17.25 inches. An exceptional piece.
