Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To John Milne with best wishes Bill Golding 5/10/55." Near fine in a very good first-issue dust jacket. Jacket design by Anthony Gross. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box made by the Harcourt Bindery. An exceptional example, most rare and desirable signed and inscribed.

Octavo, bound in full morocco by the Harcourt Bindery with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt ruling to the front and rear panel, gilt inner dentelles stamp-signed by the Harcourt Bindery, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Boldly signed by William Golding on a page bound in. In fine condition. An exceptional presentation.
