First edition of this environmental classic and foundational text in American conservation literature about the Everglades. Octavo, original publisher's cloth with gilt titles to the spine, pictorial endpapers, with black and white illustrations. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Mildred and Elmer In recognition of their care for Florida in hopes that they will be able to come back again next year. With best wishes Marjory Stoneman Douglas." Very good in a very good dust jacket, name to the front pastedown and half-title page. Illustrated by Robert Fink. First editions are rare and desirable signed.
