First edition of this classic suspense novel, basis for the the 1978 film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, starring Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier. Octavo, original publisher's half cloth with geometric design stamped in blind on front panel. Presentation copy, warmly inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "1/29/76 To Evy & Mort, With love and good wishes always, Ira." The recipients, Evy and Mort Barrow were close friends of Levin. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket, bookplate of the recipient. Jacket design by Paul Bacon. Author photograph by Bill Lulow.
