First edition of Dr. Martin Luther King’s first book. Octavo, original half cloth, illustrated. Presentation copy, lengthily inscribed by the author opposite the half-title page, "To: Marian Taylor With best wishes and warm personal regards, and in appreciation for the stimulating interview that you provided for me. Martin Luther King, Sept. 17, 1958." Taylor, under the name Martha Dean, hosted a series of interviews with King on CBS radio. He inscribed this copy shortly after completing a fifteen-minute interview with Taylor on 17 September 1958, which began at 9:45 (as noted by Taylor on the front free endpaper in pencil). Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with paperclip marks to the rear free endpaper. Housed in a custom folding chemise and half morocco slipcase with gilt titles. Rare and desirable signed and with provenance.
