The Heritage Press edition of the author’s second book, one of the best-selling travel books of all-time. Octavo, bound in three-quarters morocco by Morrell with gilt titles to the spine in six compartments within raised bands, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, title page vignette, with color illustrations throughout. In near fine condition with sunning to the spine. Introduction by Edward Wagenknecht. Illustrations by famous illustrator Fritz Kredel. Fritz Kredel was a distinguished German-American illustrator and graphic artist whose work played a significant role in the visual culture of 20th-century book design. Trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Frankfurt under Rudolf Koch, Kredel became known for his detailed woodcuts and illustrations, contributing to over 400 books, including notable collaborations with the Limited Editions Club and American publishers such as Random House and Heritage Press.
