First edition of Hine’s only book published in his lifetime, a landmark photobook in its celebration of “the dignity of labour and… the American skyscraper” (Parr & Badger). Small quarto, original green cloth, illustrated with 51 black-and-white photogravures. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Frederick A Blossom with many memories Feb. 21, 1933 Lewis W. Hine." The recipient, Frederick Blossom worked in the Patterson, New Jersey silk mills and was the union secretary. In very good condition with some toning and wear to the extremities.
