First Edition of Geek Love; Signed by Katherine Dunn and three times by Legendary Designer Chip Kidd
DUNN, Katherine.
Geek Love.
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1989.
First edition of this classic work, named by The Atlantic’s Great American Novels of the Past 100 Years. Octavo original half cloth. Boldly signed by Katherine Dunn on the title page and signed three times by legendary designer Chip Kidd; on the front panel; on the title page and on the rear jacket flap. The book's original cover art by Chip Kidd caused a sensation at book conventions when it was introduced in 1989. Its plain, stark orange color and unusual fonts went against conventional design aesthetics. In keeping with the novel's theme of mutation, the lettering of the title employs mutated fonts, and the book's spine sports a five-legged dog, an alteration Kidd slipped past the publisher and which was not noticed until after the initial print run. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Chip Kidd. A unique example.
Price: $1,600.00 Item Number: 147967
