December 1939 Issue of Model Builder Magazine; Signed by Baseball Hall of Fame Legend Joe DiMaggio
DI MAGGIO, Joe.
Joe DiMaggio Signed Model Builder Magazine.
Mount Morris, Illinois: Lionel Corporation, December, 1939.
December 1939 Issue of Model Builder Magazine, the 'The Magazine of Model Railroading for Men and Boys' published every other month by Lionel Corporation. Imperial octavo, original wrappers, featuring a black and white photograph of Joe Di Maggio with a New York Central model railroad on the cover with related excerpt on page 29 that reads, "On the cover of this issue of the Model Builder is a picture of Joe DiMaggio, outstanding ball player on the world's champion New York Yankees. When this year's greatest home run hitter is not on the ball field, he will probably be found operating and tinkering with his miniature railroad. The pride of the Di Maggio line is a quarter-inch scale model Hudson locomotive, No. 5344. New York newspapers recently printed pictures of DiMaggio with his trains under a headline: 'JOE GOES INTO TRAINING.'" Boldly signed in blue felt tip by Joe Di Maggio on top of his portrait. In very good condition. A rare and unique example.
