First edition of this work which recollects Nixon's memories of leaders such as Churchill, de Gaulle and Khrushchev. Octavo, original half cloth, illustrated with 32 photographs. Boldly signed by both Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger on the half-title page. Henry Kissinger served as a National Security Adviser under Nixon. Kissinger pioneered the policy of détente with the Soviet Union, seeking a relaxation in tensions between the two superpowers. As a part of this strategy, he negotiated the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (culminating in the SALT I treaty) and the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973, along with Le Duc Tho for their work in negotiating the ceasefires contained in the Paris Peace Accords on "Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam", signed the previous January.Fine in a near fine dust jacket.
