First edition in the original parts of "the most perfect of all the Dickens novels" (Virginia Woolf). Complete set of the original parts, with all of the etched plates and most of the advertisements. Octavo, original blue-green illustrated serial issue wrappers being twenty parts in nineteen, 624 pp. plus xiv pp. of preliminaries, errata leaf in the final part. With 40 etched plates by Hablot K. Browne ("Phiz"), including the frontispiece & added title. Part IX lacking last 4 pp. of "Works.." ad at rear, as well as the 2 pp. "Now Ready..." ad; Part XV with extra sets of the last 2 ads at rear, some parts with spines perished partially or completely, some spines reinforced, toning to plates as is usual. In very good condition. Housed in two custom half morocco and folding chemise slipcases.
